Ah, Weddings in Central Park in New York City. I wish I had a dollar for every time a bride wanted their photos taken in Central Park. I could retire tomorrow, for sure. To some photographers, it’s a trite, formulaic location. However, with this wedding, there was honestly nothing trite about it. They were incredibly in love, and the intimacy of their wedding was lovely. It was just the couple and a few friends and family overlooking s spectacular view of the east side of Manhattan. This image was taken after their Central Park wedding, and Emily, our bride, was bathed in sensational afternoon light. I used the trees to frame her, and I decided to use a fairly wide lens to capture this entire scene, rather than shoot tight. I think it lends itself to an overall view of this fantastic scenario. After the wedding, we went on to the Nomad Hotel, where they had a wonderfully elegant reception in Chelsea. This image was taken with my Nikon D5 and my Nikkor 24-70mm F2.8G lens. it was captured at ISO 250 1/1250th @ F4, and I used the darker area in the background to juxtapose the highlights on Emily’s face with the shadows in order to add an element of drama to the photograph. The sun was peaking through the trees on the top right, and I tried to make sure the flare was at a minimum. the Nano coating on the lens certainly helped. We walked around Central Park for quite a while, and we were able to produce some really beautiful images in just a short period of time. I really, really enjoyed working with these people, and I was thrilled with their images.
