Water Works Wedding Sunset Photo

If you're having a Philadelphia wedding and you're looking for a very "Philly" place for your wedding venue, you don't need to look any further than the Water Works by Cescaphe.

Water Works weddings have the advantage of having the Schuylkill River and the iconic Boathouse Row as a backdrop, and the food is spectacular.

The Philadelphia Water Works was one of the most popular tourist destinations in the early 1900s. In fact, it was second only to Niagara Falls for tourism in the United States. There is a museum underneath the pavilion and it is incredibly educational with regard to the history of this engineering marvel.

The sunset on this perfect June day was incredible, and I grabbed the couple for a few quick photos in front of Boat House Row. To achieve this dramatic look, I used my Nikkor 70-200 mm lens to compress the background and juxtaposed the shadows against the highlights to create the silhouette. The resulting image screams "Philadelphia," and was featured in Martha Stewart Weddings magazine.

Location: 640 Waterworks Dr, Philadelphia, PA 19130.
